Morningstar FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Canastota FC the free kick. After 5 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Morningstar FC! In the 8th minute there was a penalty for Canastota FC. Everett Deering stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Levi Baxter. 0-1. After 12 minutes, Sonny Zavala mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Morningstar FC and the Canastota FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 22 played minutes Morningstar FC got a freekick which was hit by Leonardo Wall. When Nick Vann came up free with the goalie in the 23rd minute, the Canastota FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Nick Vann couldn't finish the play. Brian Whaley showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sonny Zavala in the 25th minute of the match. If Shane Nunn had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Kelly McClure kicked well hit freekick during the 32nd minute of the match. After having played for 38 minutes, Logan Diaz managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Morningstar FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Logan Diaz was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 40th minute, Sonny Zavala fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. A hard shot 41 in the game by Logan Diaz from a close distance when the talented Brian Whaley managed to make a qualified save. Canastota FC's players were relieved. Morningstar FC's Sonny Zavala got a good chance for a goal in the 59th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 64th minute the ball was on its way in behind Morningstar FC's goalkeeper Levi Baxter, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Nick Vann sent away a hard shot on goal in the 66th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. If Sonny Zavala had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 70th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Sonny Zavala came up free with the goalie in the 73rd minute, the Morningstar FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Sonny Zavala couldn't finish the play. Levi Baxter took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nick Vann, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Shane Nunn had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 82 minutes into the match, Morningstar FC's goal looked a bit too open when Nick Vann came free, but Levi Baxter reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Shane Nunn charged in rather forcefully in the 84th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Shane Nunn the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. If Shelby Ward had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The Morningstar FC supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Canastota FC's performance. The match ended with a win for Canastota FC.
