The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 2nd minute of the game. One of Lake Shore AFC:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Huntersville:s goal. The referee gave Huntersville a penalty, 4 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Darius Noel, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Lake Shore AFC's Ali Wolf. 0-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Carlos Masters in the 11th minute of play forced Lake Shore AFC's goalkeeper Ali Wolf to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 13th minute Carlos Masters shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ali Wolf saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Frankie Bean had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 14th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. When Dana Rosado fell near the penalty area in the 15th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Lake Shore AFC's protests and gave Dana Rosado a yellow card for diving instead. In the 15th match minute, Lake Shore AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dana Rosado to maneuver through the defense. Lake Shore AFC's Ali Wolf played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Carlos Masters in the 16th minute of play. Albert Garza fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 19th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rosario Harman having to interfere. Carlos Masters sent away a hard shot on goal in the 25th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 26 minutes into the match, Carlos Masters had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Ali Wolf. Lake Shore AFC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Carlos Masters was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. Ali Wolf stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Frankie Bean's shot from short distance in the 30th minute. Dana Rosado got his second yellow card in the match during the 35th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. The supporters of Huntersville booed when Lake Shore AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 35 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dana Rosado didn't get a good kick on the ball. Darius Noel, 36 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. In the 38th minute Carlos Masters shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ali Wolf saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. J.P. Snyder charged in rather forcefully in the 45th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed J.P. Snyder the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Lake Shore AFC booed when Huntersville was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 46 match minutes in a wonderful position. J.P. Snyder didn't get a good kick on the ball.

The wind increased when Frankie Bean made the kick off in the second half. Carlos Masters might have been able to make a better finish in the 53rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Ali Wolf. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Carlos Masters ran back to his position shaking his head. After some careless play in the Lake Shore AFC defense, Carlos Masters kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Ali Wolf. The Lake Shore AFC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ali Wolf should have stopped the shot. In the 59th minute Albert Garza shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rosario Harman saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Russ Dobson made a great header on Lake Shore AFC's corner, it was just that Huntersville's Rosario Harman managed to reach the ball for a save. Through an outstanding action, after 62 minutes, Ali Wolf successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Ali Wolf made an important save on a dangerous shot by Carlos Masters in the 64th minute. Leland Avery charged in rather forcefully in the 65th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Leland Avery the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Lake Shore AFC getting a freekick after 65 minutes play. Leland Avery hit a great ball. After 67 played minutes Lake Shore AFC got a freekick which was hit by Russ Dobson. Frankie Bean received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 74th minute. Ali Wolf tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A hard shot 88 in the game by Frankie Bean from a close distance when the talented Ali Wolf managed to make a qualified save. Lake Shore AFC's players were relieved. Huntersville played a much better game than Lake Shore AFC and deserved their victory. The Lake Shore AFC players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
