When Watsontown FC's Sammy Cruz in the 10th minute got a chance for a shot 10th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Jim Thorpe United's goalie prevented a goal. Marty Reyes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 17th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Marty Reyes struck a weak shot in the 25th minute. Luis Swenson didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Jim Thorpe United. Brock Woodall recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 26th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Monty Robertson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 29th minute. Luis Swenson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Luis Swenson showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Brock Woodall, who was totally free with the ball in the 32nd minute. Michael Fairchild didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Sammy Cruz went, in the 34th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. Brock Woodall struck a weak shot in the 40th minute. Luis Swenson didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Jim Thorpe United. When Brent Watt came up free with the goalie in the 45th minute, the Watsontown FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Brent Watt couldn't finish the play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sammy Cruz in the 47th minute of play forced Jim Thorpe United's goalkeeper Michael Fairchild to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After the first half Watsontown FC were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Brock Woodall was the one to do the kick off. In the 54th minute, Marty Reyes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Marty Reyes was in a good position and ended up with the ball after Jim Thorpe United's free kick, but he didn't get a good hit on the ball and blazed it high and to the right of the goal. Brent Watt was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 56th minute. Watsontown FC's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. The supporters of Watsontown FC booed when Jim Thorpe United was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 58 match minutes in a wonderful position. Pierre Fritz didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 64th minute, Sammy Cruz left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Watsontown FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-3. If Brent Watt had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 73rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Luis Swenson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Brock Woodall, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 82nd minute, Brock Woodall got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Brent Watt recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 85th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 92 minutes into the match, Watsontown FC's Sammy Cruz sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Michael Fairchild narrowly saved just below the crossbar. If Brent Watt had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in Jim Thorpe United's zone, Sammy Cruz stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Michael Fairchild came out of the goal and Sammy Cruz tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The Watsontown FC supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Watsontown FC would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
