Ronnie Cotton showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Claude Cox, who was totally free with the ball in the 6th minute. Wiley Li kicked well hit freekick during the 7th minute of the match. 11 minutes into the match, Claude Cox notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of Guntersville's Ronnie Cotton. Ronnie Cotton was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Kalamazoo Kazoos's Tracy McHugh proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 18th minute of the match, managed to save Kalamazoo Kazoos from getting a goal against them. Marvin Boyer received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 20th minute. Tracy McHugh tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Claude Cox had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 24th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 27 minutes into the match, Kalamazoo Kazoos's goalkeeper Tracy McHugh had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Basil Tolbert. Marvin Boyer struck a weak shot in the 29th minute. Tracy McHugh didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Guntersville. Kalamazoo Kazoos's Tracy McHugh played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Marvin Boyer in the 33rd minute of play. 39 minutes into the match, Genaro Meza had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Ronnie Cotton. Guntersville's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Genaro Meza was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-2. Ronnie Cotton stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Claude Cox's shot from short distance in the 45th minute. The audience was convinced that Claude Cox's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Ronnie Cotton was relentless in the 46th minute of the game. Genaro Meza sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The Guntersville players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Kalamazoo Kazoos were winning 1-2.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Marvin Boyer to make the kick off. Jeremy Person charged in rather forcefully in the 95th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Jeremy Person the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play.
