In the 26th minute Lawrence Willis shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Robby Ledbetter saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Chris Singletary made a fantastic save in the 30th minute, when Scotty Dodson sent off a good shot on target. Guin's Robby Ledbetter played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sterling Willoughby in the 34th minute of play. Lawrence Willis might have been able to make a better finish in the 36th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Robby Ledbetter. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Lawrence Willis ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 40th minute, Sterling Willoughby ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Robby Ledbetter was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-3. In the 46th minute, Odell Thurman got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal.

Scotty Dodson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 52nd minute. Chris Singletary tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Chris Singletary took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Scotty Dodson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Scotty Dodson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 58th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Chris Singletary having to interfere. If Samuel Barajas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 60th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to Federal Way getting a freekick after 61 minutes play. Enoch Gilliam hit a great ball. Chris Singletary made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Scotty Dodson in the 62nd minute of play. A collision led to Guin getting a freekick after 69 minutes play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Sterling Willoughby got free with Robby Ledbetter in the 71st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 73 minutes into the match, Sterling Willoughby had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Robby Ledbetter. Guin's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Sterling Willoughby was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-4. If Sterling Willoughby had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 80th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Lawrence Willis fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 88th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Robby Ledbetter having to interfere. Everyone was convinced a goal was close when Federal Way's Lawrence Willis in the 90th minute lifted the ball towards the upper right corner, but Robby Ledbetter was perfectly placed and prevented a goal for Guin through an amazing save. In the 93rd match minute, Guin was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Samuel Barajas to maneuver through the defense. Scotty Dodson hit a great freekick 95 minutes into the match. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Federal Way eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
