Freddie McNamara succeeded in the game's 11th minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 0-1. Javier Gregory could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 16th minute of the match, but Zane Dickens made a huge save. Javier Gregory who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 18thth minute tested the skills of Zane Dickens when he managed to save the team from getting behind. If Lincoln DeJesus had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 19th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Nicky Neal might have been able to make a better finish in the 21st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Robin Bartley. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Nicky Neal ran back to his position shaking his head. After some careless play in the United Galaxy SF defense, Freddie McNamara kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Robin Bartley. The United Galaxy SF fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Robin Bartley should have stopped the shot. A sloppy throw-in by Marcellus McClelland in the 27th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Houston FC's Laurence Cardoso. Zane Dickens made an important save on a dangerous shot by Lenny Conroy in the 29th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lincoln DeJesus in the 31st minute of play forced Houston FC's goalkeeper Zane Dickens to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 32nd minute, Javier Gregory managed to get in a good position for a shot. United Galaxy SF's supporters rose to their feet, but Javier Gregory was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Zane Dickens breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Robin Bartley stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Nicky Neal's shot from short distance in the 36th minute. Laurence Cardoso received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 38th minute. Robin Bartley tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Laurence Cardoso recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 40th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Freddie McNamara blasted a shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Robin Bartley having to make a save. Nicky Neal received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 43rd minute. Robin Bartley tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The United Galaxy SF players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Houston FC were winning 0-2.

Zane Dickens showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Javier Gregory, who was totally free with the ball in the 54th minute. In the 55th minute Lincoln DeJesus shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Zane Dickens saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. United Galaxy SF's Robin Bartley played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nicky Neal in the 59th minute of play. After 64 minutes of play, United Galaxy SF's Javier Gregory made it 1-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Zane Dickens was left in no man's land by his defense there! Nicky Neal hit a great freekick 66 minutes into the match. Fabian Koenig could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 74th minute of the match, but Robin Bartley made a huge save. When Jesus Yoder fell near the penalty area in the 76th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored United Galaxy SF's protests and gave Jesus Yoder a yellow card for diving instead. Jesus Yoder hit a great freekick 76 minutes into the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 78th minute, Fabian Koenig managed to get in a good position for a shot. Houston FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Fabian Koenig was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Robin Bartley breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 79th minute, Laurence Cardoso fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Robin Bartley, passed just outside the right post. If Freddie McNamara had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 82nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Robin Bartley didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Fabian Koenig went, in the 84th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-4 was the resulting score. Houston FC's Zane Dickens played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Javier Gregory in the 88th minute of play. Zane Dickens took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Boyce Blackwell, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Nicky Neal had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Nicky Neal fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 95th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Robin Bartley having to interfere. In the 97th minute of the match Jack Gorman sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Robin Bartley skillfully saved the ball.
