In the 7th match minute, Pelicans SC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Devin Conley to maneuver through the defense. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 10th minute of the game. One of Rohnert:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Pelicans SC:s goal. When Curt Dorsey came up free with the goalie in the 14th minute, the Pelicans SC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Curt Dorsey couldn't finish the play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Curt Dorsey in the 17th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Lincoln Sherman prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Desmond Hoover blasted a shot towards the goal in the 19th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Jamel Dupre having to make a save. In the 32nd minute, Reuben Rasmussen hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Curt Dorsey came up free with the goalie in the 34th minute, the Pelicans SC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Curt Dorsey couldn't finish the play. A collision led to Rohnert getting a freekick after 37 minutes play. Alistair Sanders hit a great ball. Curt Dwyer recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 39th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Curt Dwyer had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 43 minutes into the match, Rohnert's goal looked a bit too open when Curt Dorsey came free, but Lincoln Sherman reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Curt Dorsey had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 48th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Desmond Hoover made the kick off in the second half. In the 53rd minute, Christian Sears hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Pierre Aaron recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 54th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Curt Dwyer received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 63rd minute. Lincoln Sherman tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Rohnert's zone, Curt Dorsey stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Lincoln Sherman came out of the goal and Curt Dorsey tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Lincoln Sherman showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Curt Dorsey, who was totally free with the ball in the 79th minute. Devin Conley was shown his second yellow card after 81 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. Devin Conley hit a great freekick 81 minutes into the match. When Curt Dorsey fell near the penalty area in the 83rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Pelicans SC's protests and gave Curt Dorsey a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Pelicans SC's Curt Dorsey got a free kick in the 83rd minute. 84 minutes into the match, Rohnert's Pierre Aaron broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. With a little luck, Rohnert's Lincoln Sherman got control of the ball when Curt Dwyer tried to sneak it across the goal line. Lincoln Sherman made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Curt Dorsey in the 87th minute of play. 88 minutes into the match, Rohnert's goalkeeper Lincoln Sherman had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Curt Dwyer. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Pelicans SC walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
