Union's supporters rose to their feet, but Donald York was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Bo Gallagher breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Donald York sent away a hard shot on goal in the 9th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Stanton Glenn in the 13th minute of play forced Valparaiso C.F.'s goalkeeper Bo Gallagher to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 13 played minutes Valparaiso C.F. got a freekick which was hit by Hunter Ricks. A collision led to Union getting a freekick after 14 minutes play. Stanton Glenn hit a great ball. Jerold Jarvis fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Deon Kimbrough having to interfere. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Stanton Glenn in the 33rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Bo Gallagher prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 34th minute Stanton Glenn shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Bo Gallagher saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Bo Gallagher made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Donald York in the 36th minute of play. Bo Gallagher took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Stanton Glenn, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 43 minutes into the match, Valparaiso C.F.'s goal looked a bit too open when Donald York came free, but Bo Gallagher reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The wind increased when Stanton Glenn made the kick off in the second half. 60 minutes had been played when some careless play by Union's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Karl Rowley was slow to take the kick. During this time Valparaiso C.F.'s players had a chance to rest. Karl Rowley made a great header on Valparaiso C.F.'s corner, it was just that Union's Deon Kimbrough managed to reach the ball for a save. Edmund Mattson charged in rather forcefully in the 63rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Edmund Mattson the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 64 played minutes Valparaiso C.F. got a freekick which was hit by Edmund Mattson. In the 75th minute, Elvis Willett reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Bo Gallagher. The goal made the score 0-1. In the 78th minute Jerold Jarvis shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Deon Kimbrough saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, Union's Trent Carey got a free kick in the 84th minute. In the 87th minute, Jerold Jarvis left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Valparaiso C.F. fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. 91 minutes into the game, Stanton Glenn recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Bo Gallagher. Stanton Glenn showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-2. When the match was over Union could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Valparaiso C.F. throughout the match.
