Seating: 1765, VIP seats: 153) East Haven's Duke Esparza started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 4th match minute, East Haven was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Philip Steele to maneuver through the defense. In a very dangerous position, a player in East Haven fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 14th minute. Penalty! Ignacio Nash walked up to take care of the penalty kick. He was aiming for the top corner, but the ball went just outside the post. In the 20th minute Duke Esparza shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jesse Cody saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Fletcher Connelly received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 22nd minute. Jesse Cody tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 35 minutes into the match, Alfonzo Sams had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Dale Eckert. East Haven's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Alfonzo Sams was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. In the 40th minute, Duke Esparza got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Fletcher Connelly in the 43rdth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Jesse Cody, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. With an all-out effort, East Haven's Jesse Cody threw himself towards the right post 44 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Duke Esparza, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. D.J. Veltman sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell D.J. Veltman to make the kick off. In the 52nd minute Edmund Shea shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jesse Cody saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 57th minute, Ignacio Nash got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. D.J. Veltman might have been able to make a better finish in the 60th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Dale Eckert. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. D.J. Veltman ran back to his position shaking his head. After a rather tough play, Cross City FC's Alfonzo Sams got a free kick in the 65th minute. Jesse Cody showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Duke Esparza, who was totally free with the ball in the 67th minute. Edmund Shea's late challenge caught a Cross City FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Edmund Shea helped the player get up and apologised. After 68 played minutes East Haven got a freekick which was hit by Edmund Shea. With a little luck, East Haven's Dale Eckert got control of the ball when Alfonzo Sams tried to sneak it across the goal line. Fletcher Connelly fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 71st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jesse Cody having to interfere. Alfonzo Sams could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 79th minute of the match, but Dale Eckert made a huge save. Fletcher Connelly sent away a hard shot on goal in the 81st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After having played for 97 minutes, D.J. Veltman managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Cross City FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but D.J. Veltman was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal.
