Spectators: 6774 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1774, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Fletcher Connelly started the match with the kick off. Graham Whitaker took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Peter Waller, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 8 played minutes South Gate Ridge got a freekick which was hit by Terence Dwyer. After some fancy dribbling in the 15th minute, Ty Aaron managed to get in a good position for a shot. South Gate Ridge's supporters rose to their feet, but Ty Aaron was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Dale Eckert breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Ty Aaron had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 27 minutes, Murray Miranda mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the East Haven and the South Gate Ridge players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 27th minute, Murray Miranda hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. During the 32nd minute of the match Murray Miranda completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Murray Miranda a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. Murray Miranda kicked well hit freekick during the 33rd minute of the match. In the 34th minute, Woody Key sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and East Haven's Dale Eckert didn't even have to move. Gerardo Grayson hit a great freekick 46 minutes into the match. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell James Allison to make the kick off. If Edmund Shea had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 51st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Fletcher Connelly recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 53rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. South Gate Ridge's Ty Aaron got a good chance for a goal in the 61st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Dale Eckert made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from James Allison in the 63rd minute of play. When South Gate Ridge's James Allison in the 64th minute got a chance for a shot 64th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye East Haven's goalie prevented a goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ty Aaron in the 66th minute of play forced East Haven's goalkeeper Dale Eckert to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of South Gate Ridge booed when East Haven was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 79 match minutes in a wonderful position. Fletcher Connelly didn't get a good kick on the ball. Dale Eckert made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ty Aaron in the 86th minute of play. After a rather tough play, South Gate Ridge's Gerardo Grayson got a free kick in the 88th minute. The long shot by Randolph Yang in the 90th minute really tested Graham Whitaker's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. If Ty Aaron had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The South Gate Ridge fans cheered their team off the field, for while East Haven had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
