Cedric Bearden's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Graham Whitaker read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 8th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cedric Bearden in the 12th minute of play forced South Gate Ridge's goalkeeper Graham Whitaker to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Stacy Ames during the 12th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. When Calvin Worley came up free with the goalie in the 16th minute, the Atletico Texcali fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Calvin Worley couldn't finish the play. Ty Aaron recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 20th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 25 minutes into the game, Cedric Bearden was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Atletico Texcali's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave South Gate Ridge the free kick. In the 25th match minute, Atletico Texcali was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cedric Bearden to maneuver through the defense. Cedric Bearden struck a weak shot in the 29th minute. Graham Whitaker didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Atletico Texcali. 31 minutes into the game, Terence Dwyer was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Atletico Texcali's DeMarcus McCarthy played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by James Allison in the 35th minute of play. In the 47th match minute, South Gate Ridge was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Scottie Mallory to maneuver through the defense. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

The wind increased when James Allison made the kick off in the second half. Errol Lynch fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 56th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Graham Whitaker having to interfere. A collision led to Atletico Texcali getting a freekick after 88 minutes play. C.J. McNally hit a great ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Ty Aaron got free with DeMarcus McCarthy in the 94th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort.
