When Thanh Metzger fell near the penalty area in the 17th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Ellinwood FC's protests and gave Thanh Metzger a yellow card for diving instead. After 18 played minutes, Fishers's Marvin Sheldon shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Truman Baez came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Fishers reached it. Clayton Bentley's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Scott Gallo read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 23rd minute of play. After having played for 34 minutes, Jessie McManus managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Fishers's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jessie McManus was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 35 minutes into the match, Ellinwood FC's goalkeeper Truman Baez had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Freddie Plummer. The crowd rose to their feet as Fishers's Freddie Plummer slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Truman Baez. That made the score 1-1 after 37 minutes of play. When Thanh Metzger was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 41 minutes had been played. After 42 played minutes Ellinwood FC got a freekick which was hit by Thanh Metzger. After some careless play in the Ellinwood FC defense, Freddie Plummer kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Truman Baez. The Ellinwood FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Truman Baez should have stopped the shot. Freddie Plummer was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 49th minute. Fishers's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Clayton Bentley stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Truman Baez showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Freddie Plummer in the 54th minute of the match. Marvin Sheldon took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 73rd minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Truman Baez. Ellinwood FC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 75th minute, Jessie McManus managed to get in a good position for a shot. Fishers's supporters rose to their feet, but Jessie McManus was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Truman Baez breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 77th minute of the match Marvin Sheldon shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Truman Baez showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. 79 minutes into the game, Fishers's Jessie McManus nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Truman Baez made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-1. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Hunter Bravo during the 85th minute. Fishers had won after a very even match.
