But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Rolf Bonds couldn't finish the play. The crowd rose to their feet as Linden United's Rudy Altman slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Lonnie Medina. That made the score 0-2 after 80 minutes of play. Kip Gould hit a great freekick 88 minutes into the match. Lonnie Medina made a fantastic save in the 91st minute, when Rene Barrow sent off a good shot on target. After a defensive mix-up in Linden United's zone, Rolf Bonds stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Rashad Jacob came out of the goal and Rolf Bonds tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Linden United eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
