Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Jarvis Ratliff had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 8th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 10th minute, Jasper Nelson managed to get in a good position for a shot. FC Dallas's supporters rose to their feet, but Jasper Nelson was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jacques Wagner breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a rather tough play, FC Dallas's Neil Hardy got a free kick in the 14th minute. Pat Candido shot from long distance in the 16th minute, but Zachariah Garrett was prepared and stopped the ball at the left post. After 36 played minutes, FC Dallas's Dylan Petersen shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Jacques Wagner came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in FC Dallas reached it. 40 minutes into the game, FC Dallas's Jasper Nelson nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Jacques Wagner made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. With a little luck, FC Dallas's Zachariah Garrett got control of the ball when Freddy Hill tried to sneak it across the goal line.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Jasper Nelson to make the kick off. Jacques Wagner showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jasper Nelson in the 52nd minute of the match.
