One of Montgomery City AFC:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Burninators:s goal. When Jake Carbajal came up free with the goalie in the 32nd minute, the Burninators fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jake Carbajal couldn't finish the play. Montgomery City AFC's Reuben Schmidt proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 39th minute of the match, managed to save Montgomery City AFC from getting a goal against them. In the 40th minute Ted Lund shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Reuben Schmidt saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Montgomery City AFC's supporters rose to their feet, but Clark Carrey was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Damian Whaley breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Burninators's Kristopher Hobbs got a good chance for a goal in the 96th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Damian Whaley showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Clark Carrey, who was totally free with the ball in the 98th minute. If Kristopher Hobbs had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 99th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Montgomery City AFC's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
