An unexpectedly hard shot by Vernon Kaiser in the 20th minute of play forced Montgomery City AFC's goalkeeper Reuben Schmidt to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Lionel Deal recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 23rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Clark Carrey received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 29th minute. James Key tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Luke Califf fell near the penalty area in the 33rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored River plate's protests and gave Luke Califf a yellow card for diving instead. James Key took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Clark Carrey, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.

After 51 played minutes Montgomery City AFC got a freekick which was hit by Del Poe. River plate were awarded a corner in the 54th minute after Montgomery City AFC's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Cesar Larsen took the corner. A collision led to River plate getting a freekick after 54 minutes play. Tod Corcoran hit a great ball. Tod Corcoran stood ready after the free kick and tried to head the ball into the goal, but got pushed from behind by one of Montgomery City AFC's defenders and the ball went out. River plate appealed in vain for a penalty, the referee looked over at the linesman, but the flag stayed down. No Penalty. Reuben Schmidt came out of the goal in the 58th minute to try and stop a shot by River plate's Deshawn Calderwood. But to his dismay, Deshawn Calderwood quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-0. River plate's James Key proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 65th minute of the match, managed to save River plate from getting a goal against them. Del Poe hit a great freekick 77 minutes into the match. Montgomery City AFC's Reuben Schmidt played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Vernon Kaiser in the 80th minute of play. In the 80th minute, Emanuel Gilbert hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Vernon Kaiser in the 94th minute of play forced Montgomery City AFC's goalkeeper Reuben Schmidt to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. River plate had won after a very even match.
