The audience was convinced that Nick Hagen's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Curtis Alexander was relentless in the 3rd minute of the game. After a defensive mix-up in Arsenal Imitation F.C.'s zone, Allen Cain stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Curtis Alexander came out of the goal and Allen Cain tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Allen Cain kicked well hit freekick during the 9th minute of the match. 12 minutes into the match, Nick Hagen had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Curtis Alexander. Arsenal Imitation F.C.'s manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Nick Hagen was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. In the 16th minute, Portland Timbers's Ronald French seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Ronald French the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Portland Timbers protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Ronald French had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. 15 minutes into the game, one of Portland Timbers:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Rey Villanueva placed the ball on the penalty spot and got himself ready to shoot. Post out! After some fancy dribbling in the 20th minute, Raymundo Bonilla managed to get in a good position for a shot. Arsenal Imitation F.C.'s supporters rose to their feet, but Raymundo Bonilla was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Alvin Fitzpatrick breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Kyle Archer might have been able to make a better finish in the 23rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Curtis Alexander. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Kyle Archer ran back to his position shaking his head. 28 minutes into the match, Arsenal Imitation F.C.'s goalkeeper Curtis Alexander had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Allen Cain. In the 28th match minute, Arsenal Imitation F.C. was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Devin Davila to maneuver through the defense. Raymundo Bonilla struck a weak shot in the 36th minute. Alvin Fitzpatrick didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Arsenal Imitation F.C.. Alvin Fitzpatrick made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Raymundo Bonilla in the 38th minute of play. An unexpected shot in the 43rd minute by Kyle Archer got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. After a defensive mix-up in Arsenal Imitation F.C.'s zone, Kyle Archer stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Curtis Alexander came out of the goal and Kyle Archer tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Raymundo Bonilla made a kick off. When Allen Cain came up free with the goalie in the 51st minute, the Portland Timbers fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Allen Cain couldn't finish the play. In the 55th minute Allen Cain shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Curtis Alexander saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 58th minute, Nick Woodall reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Alvin Fitzpatrick. The goal made the score 1-1. With a little luck, Portland Timbers's Alvin Fitzpatrick got control of the ball when Nick Woodall tried to sneak it across the goal line. Portland Timbers's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Devin Davila was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-2. The supporters of Arsenal Imitation F.C. booed when Portland Timbers was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 83 match minutes in a wonderful position. Curt Rosenberg didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 88th minute Curt Rosenberg shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Curtis Alexander saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Kyle Archer had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 89th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 95 minutes into the match, Arsenal Imitation F.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Jeremy Ruff came free, but Curtis Alexander reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When the referee blew the final whistle jeers and boos were heard from the home team's supporters. They were angered to see Portland Timbers lose a match they had controlled from the kick-off.
