Ely's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Woods Cross FC the free kick. Andreas Sherman kicked well hit freekick during the 5th minute of the match. After having played for 6 minutes, Jake Henson managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Woods Cross FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jake Henson was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Mel Souza had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 9th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 9 played minutes Woods Cross FC got a freekick which was hit by Stephan Goodson. Woods Cross FC's Gregory Kitchen played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Trey Epps in the 11th minute of play. Mel Souza received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 13th minute. Alan McHugh tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 19 minutes into the match, Jake Henson dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Alan McHugh, 1-0. Trey Epps received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 24th minute. Gregory Kitchen tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Jake Henson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Trey Epps sent away a hard shot on goal in the 29th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Trey Epps recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 44th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Jake Story struck a weak shot in the 46th minute. Gregory Kitchen didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ely. Gregory Kitchen took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jake Story, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Jake Story to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 54th minute Jake Henson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alan McHugh saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Jake Henson in the 56th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Alan McHugh prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After having played for 58 minutes, Jake Henson managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. In the 66th minute Jake Story shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gregory Kitchen saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, Ely's Lanny Dotson got a free kick in the 68th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Ely's zone, Jake Henson stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Alan McHugh came out of the goal and Jake Henson tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Jake Henson scored 2-0 in the 72nd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Alan McHugh, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. 75 minutes into the game, Jessie Bolton was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Woods Cross FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Ely the free kick. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Woods Cross FC fans cheered their team off the field, for while Ely had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
