Mel Souza sent away a hard shot on goal in the 27th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 28 minutes into the game, Donovan Stringer was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Honeyfreaks's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Woods Cross FC the free kick. Gregory Kitchen didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Norberto Friend went, in the 32nd minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. 39 minutes into the match, Woods Cross FC's Jake Henson sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Leonardo Dempsey narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After 44 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Woods Cross FC! The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-3.

After 62 minutes of play Honeyfreaks's Johnny Meier was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. Solomon Peoples, 63 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. If Mel Souza had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 66th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in Woods Cross FC's zone, Damien Hamm stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gregory Kitchen came out of the goal and Damien Hamm tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Solomon Peoples hit a great freekick 73 minutes into the match. In the 80th minute, Jessie Bolton hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Mel Souza fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 89th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Leonardo Dempsey having to interfere. After 93 minutes, Toby Swartz mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Woods Cross FC and the Honeyfreaks players grew even worse after the yellow card. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. The audience was convinced that Mel Souza's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Leonardo Dempsey was relentless in the 96th minute of the game.
