After 13 minutes of play, Byzantium AFC's Phillip Dietz made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Al Ames was left in no man's land by his defense there! 18 minutes into the match, Byzantium AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Trinidad Leal came free, but Freddy Barton reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Al Ames showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Phillip Dietz, who was totally free with the ball in the 26th minute. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Alberto Hodges during the 29th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 30th match minute, Byzantium AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alberto Hodges to maneuver through the defense. Byzantium AFC's Graig Gamble got a good chance for a goal in the 35th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Phillip Dietz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 37th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Phillip Dietz took the ball and in the 42 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Al Ames. Al Ames dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. In the 47th minute, Graig Gamble got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Trinidad Leal stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. With an all-out effort, Byzantium AFC's Al Ames threw himself towards the right post 52 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Graig Gamble, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. In the 57th minute of the match Aurelio Ybarra sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Freddy Barton skillfully saved the ball. After a rather tough play, Byzantium AFC's Alfredo Dykes got a free kick in the 58th minute. After having played for 59 minutes, Trinidad Leal managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Mundelein FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Trinidad Leal was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Trinidad Leal had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 62nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 67 minutes into the game, Graig Gamble was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Byzantium AFC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Mundelein FC the free kick. In the 67th match minute, Byzantium AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Graig Gamble to maneuver through the defense. Graig Gamble received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 74th minute. Al Ames tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Phillip Dietz could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 82nd minute of the match, but Al Ames made a huge save. 85 minutes into the match, Mundelein FC's goal looked a bit too open when Graig Gamble came free, but Al Ames reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Trinidad Leal fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 87th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Freddy Barton having to interfere. Alfredo Dykes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 90th minute. Al Ames tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Trinidad Leal sent away a hard shot on goal in the 94th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Byzantium AFC eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
