SL FIRES's supporters crossed their fingers, but Forrest Swift was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Monte Healy was the one to do the kick off. If Monte Healy had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 86th minute Monte Healy shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Vern Chapman saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Monte Healy had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 90th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 91 minutes into the game, one of Romanguaça FC:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. In the 96th minute the ball was on its way in behind SL FIRES's goalkeeper Vern Chapman, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. If Ken Forrest had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 98th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the final whistle went the supporters of SL FIRES were delighted that their team had defeated the much more dominant Romanguaça FC side.
