An unexpectedly hard shot by Trinidad Leal in the 9th minute of play forced SL FIRES's goalkeeper Vern Chapman to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Mundelein FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Brady Clifford was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The wind increased when Trinidad Leal made the kick off in the second half. 54 minutes into the match, Rory Carrington had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Al Ames. Mundelein FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Rory Carrington was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1.
