After 7 minutes, Johnathon McDonough made it 0-1 with a short kick to the right side. Gotham City Athletic's Elvis Huston tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Elvis Huston showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Johnathon McDonough in the 13th minute of the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Archie Lanier during the 19th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 19 played minutes Rocky Ford got a freekick which was hit by Archie Lanier. Gotham City Athletic's Jayson Parish got a good chance for a goal in the 22nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a rather tough play, Gotham City Athletic's Wallace Camacho got a free kick in the 24th minute. After 26 played minutes, Rocky Ford's Berry Horner shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Elvis Huston came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Rocky Ford reached it. Jayson Parish received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 27th minute. Nathaniel Randolph tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Roderick Burnett recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 34th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 41st minute, Archie Lanier hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Jayson Parish took the ball and in the 47 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Nathaniel Randolph. Nathaniel Randolph dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Deon Hawthorne stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Elvis Huston made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Roderick Burnett in the 57th minute of play. Roderick Burnett could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 57th minute of the match, but Elvis Huston made a huge save. Elvis Huston showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Roderick Burnett, who was totally free with the ball in the 60th minute. Cory Lutz's late challenge caught a Rocky Ford's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Cory Lutz helped the player get up and apologised. After 61 played minutes Gotham City Athletic got a freekick which was hit by Cory Lutz. Jayson Parish struck a weak shot in the 73rd minute. Nathaniel Randolph didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Gotham City Athletic. In the 82nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Rocky Ford's goalkeeper Nathaniel Randolph, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 93rd match minute, Rocky Ford was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Berry Horner to maneuver through the defense.
