Roderick Burnett hit a great freekick 4 minutes into the match. Rocky Ford's Johnathon McDonough got a good chance for a goal in the 8th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Flushing's Brock Mohr proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 11th minute of the match, managed to save Flushing from getting a goal against them. In the 13th minute Deon Hawthorne shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Brock Mohr saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 16th minute, Deon Hawthorne fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Brock Mohr, passed just outside the right post. Johnathon McDonough fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Brock Mohr having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Deon Hawthorne in the 22nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Brock Mohr saved Flushing from getting behind. Brock Mohr made a fantastic save in the 23rd minute, when Johnathon McDonough sent off a good shot on target. If Johnathon McDonough had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 30th minute Ali Thome shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nathaniel Randolph saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Flushing's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Wilbur Beltre in the 31st minute. Wilbur Beltre made a great header on Flushing's corner, it was just that Rocky Ford's Nathaniel Randolph managed to reach the ball for a save. After a defensive mix-up in Flushing's zone, Deon Hawthorne stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Brock Mohr came out of the goal and Deon Hawthorne tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Johnathon McDonough received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 35th minute. Brock Mohr tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 36th match minute, Flushing was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Wilbur Beltre to maneuver through the defense. Deon Hawthorne recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 38th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Ali Thome's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Nathaniel Randolph read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 42nd minute of play. Charles Huffman received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 46th minute. Nathaniel Randolph tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Brock Mohr stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Deon Hawthorne's shot from short distance in the 83rd minute. If Ali Thome had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead.
