Dalton Shook fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 8th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Josh Elkins having to interfere. 11 minutes into the match, West Valley City FC's goal looked a bit too open when Matthew Powell came free, but Josh Elkins reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Sergio Farrell got free with Rashad Carmona in the 14th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Rashad Carmona took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Timmy Sawyer, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Woody Rushing fell near the penalty area in the 18th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored West Valley City FC's protests and gave Woody Rushing a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, West Valley City FC's Woody Rushing got a free kick in the 18th minute. After a defensive mix-up in West Valley City FC's zone, Matthew Powell stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Josh Elkins came out of the goal and Matthew Powell tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 24th minute Dalton Shook shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Josh Elkins saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 26 minutes into the game, West Valley City FC's Sergio Farrell nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Rashad Carmona made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. Sergio Farrell received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Rashad Carmona came out and tried to block the shot, but Sergio Farrell slotted it home off the left post making it 2-0 in the 29th minute. West Valley City FC's Josh Elkins played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dalton Shook in the 35th minute of play. In the 39th minute Timmy Sawyer shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rashad Carmona saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 45 minutes into the game, Matthew Powell cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-1. Josh Elkins was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-1.

The wind increased when Timmy Sawyer made the kick off in the second half. In the 53rd minute Dalton Shook shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Josh Elkins saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. West Valley City FC's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Dalton Shook 55 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 2-2. Silas Michaud charged in rather forcefully in the 58th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Silas Michaud the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Rashad Carmona was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. West Valley City FC's Josh Elkins played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dalton Shook in the 82nd minute of play. If Oren Horner had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 85th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 91st minute the ball was on its way in behind West Valley City FC's goalkeeper Josh Elkins, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. West Valley City FC's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
