In the 12th match minute, Steger AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Terrence Key to maneuver through the defense. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Domenic Kemp in the 14th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Gerardo Shields saved Steger AFC from getting behind. The audience thought a goal was coming when Wiley Burns got free with Anton Trotter in the 17th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Gerardo Shields showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ronald Wade, who was totally free with the ball in the 20th minute. When the match had gone on for 24 minutes, Domenic Kemp put it in 0-1 from a short distance just to the right of Gerardo Shields. 29 minutes into the match, Steger AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Ronald Wade came free, but Gerardo Shields reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Domenic Kemp received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 31st minute. Gerardo Shields tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Steger AFC's Gerardo Shields played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ronald Wade in the 33rd minute of play. After 34 played minutes Steger AFC got a freekick which was hit by Glen Jorgensen. A collision led to Steger AFC getting a freekick after 36 minutes play. Glen Jorgensen hit a great ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 42nd minute, Domenic Kemp managed to get in a good position for a shot. Groveland's supporters rose to their feet, but Domenic Kemp was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Gerardo Shields breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Domenic Kemp had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After the first half Groveland were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Renato McLain made a kick off. Eusebio Wolf struck a weak shot in the 53rd minute. Gerardo Shields didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Groveland. Steger AFC's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Ronald Wade 58 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 0-4. Anton Trotter showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Renato McLain in the 95th minute of the match. Wiley Burns received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 96th minute. Anton Trotter tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When the match was over Groveland could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Steger AFC throughout the match.
