The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. If Ernie Marrero had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 6th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 8 minutes into the match, FlyingSnake's goal looked a bit too open when Vance Vann came free, but Garret Phelps reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Kip McCarthy sent away a hard shot on goal in the 10th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Kip McCarthy came up free with the goalie in the 14th minute, the FlyingSnake fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Kip McCarthy couldn't finish the play. In the 19th minute, Vance Vann got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 20th minute, Flint Sands hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Vance Vann received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 23rd minute. Garret Phelps tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 27 minutes, Ernie Marrero mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Elmhurst AFC and the FlyingSnake players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of FlyingSnake booed when Elmhurst AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 27 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ernie Marrero didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 32nd minute, Basil Barlow got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Kip McCarthy recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 33rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Elmhurst AFC's Kristopher Grayson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Kip McCarthy in the 40th minute of play. In the 41st minute, Ernie Marrero hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Ernie Marrero fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 47th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Garret Phelps having to interfere. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Kip McCarthy stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Basil Barlow was extremely unlucky when he, in the 51st minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. Rod Stephens fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 56th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Garret Phelps having to interfere. The Elmhurst AFC fans' excitement grew in the 58th match minute when Elmhurst AFC's Vance Vann looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. In the 62nd minute Kip McCarthy shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Kristopher Grayson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Vance Vann might have been able to make a better finish in the 67th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Garret Phelps. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Vance Vann ran back to his position shaking his head. Basil Barlow hit a great freekick 72 minutes into the match. Vance Vann could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 76th minute of the match, but Garret Phelps made a huge save. A collision led to Elmhurst AFC getting a freekick after 79 minutes play. Ernie Marrero hit a great ball. In the 80th match minute, Elmhurst AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Basil Barlow to maneuver through the defense. 81 minutes into the match, Elmhurst AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Kip McCarthy came free, but Kristopher Grayson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
