HBG Knoxville's supporters rose to their feet, but Abraham Witherspoon was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Luis Simon breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 17th minute, Jefferson Cesario fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Luis Simon, passed just outside the right post. After having played for 19 minutes, Franklin Ackerman managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Burien's supporters crossed their fingers, but Franklin Ackerman was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Franklin Ackerman might have been able to make a better finish in the 23rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Landon London. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Franklin Ackerman ran back to his position shaking his head. Abraham Witherspoon fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 26th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Luis Simon having to interfere. Jefferson Cesario sent away a hard shot on goal in the 28th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 30 played minutes Burien got a freekick which was hit by Frank Underwood. Burien's Luis Simon played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Phil Griffith in the 31st minute of play. After some careless play in the HBG Knoxville defense, Nigel Puckett kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Landon London. The HBG Knoxville fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Landon London should have stopped the shot.
