The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Rudolph Lusk showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Troy Mitchell, who was totally free with the ball in the 3rd minute. After 8 played minutes Houston Rockets got a freekick which was hit by Bennett Phillips. In the 12th minute Troy Mitchell shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rudolph Lusk saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The corner led Houston Rockets's Tony Koehler to fire away a dangerous shot which Rudolph Lusk despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Rudolph Lusk made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Troy Mitchell in the 24th minute of play. 31 minutes into the game, Houston Rockets's Troy Mitchell nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Rudolph Lusk made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. After a rather tough play, Houston Rockets's Troy Wills got a free kick in the 36th minute. Shawnee AFC's Clayton Compton couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 37th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Houston Rockets. Troy Wills charged in rather forcefully in the 38th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Troy Wills the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Houston Rockets's Troy Wills got a free kick in the 38th minute. Austin Mullen fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sterling House having to interfere. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Troy Mitchell stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The throw-in from Stephan Houston in the 51st minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Shawnee AFC's Clayton Compton. Shawnee AFC's Rudolph Lusk proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 59th minute of the match, managed to save Shawnee AFC from getting a goal against them. Shawnee AFC's Leonard Roy managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Stephan Houston in the 65 minute of the game. The supporters of Houston Rockets booed when Shawnee AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 67 match minutes in a wonderful position. Reinaldo Stanton didn't get a good kick on the ball. A collision led to Houston Rockets getting a freekick after 71 minutes play. Troy Mitchell hit a great ball. Bennett Phillips's late challenge caught a Shawnee AFC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Bennett Phillips helped the player get up and apologised. Bennett Phillips kicked well hit freekick during the 94th minute of the match. The Shawnee AFC manager could be seen shouting at his players as they walked down the tunnel after the match. He was clearly angry that they had squandered their superior possession, allowing Houston Rockets to win.
