Giuseppe Jenkins could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 9th minute of the match, but Garth Betts made a huge save. After 22 played minutes Huron FC got a freekick which was hit by Kenny Floyd. Jesse Vogel received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 30th minute. Garth Betts tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Huron FC booed when Wood River FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 33 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ken Fair didn't get a good kick on the ball. 39 minutes into the match, Huron FC's goal looked a bit too open when Jesse Vogel came free, but Garth Betts reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Walton Roberts scored 0-2 in the 40th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Willie Reilly, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. A collision led to Wood River FC getting a freekick after 45 minutes play. Brendan Ferreira hit a great ball. David Marshall was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 46th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The wind increased when Kenny Floyd made the kick off in the second half. Wood River FC's Willie Reilly proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 52nd minute of the match, managed to save Wood River FC from getting a goal against them. 53 minutes into the game, Walton Roberts recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Willie Reilly. Walton Roberts showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 0-3. Huron FC's Walton Roberts got a good chance for a goal in the 59th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Willie Reilly showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Kenny Floyd in the 60th minute of the match. After 64 played minutes Wood River FC got a freekick which was hit by Carl Sosa. Kenny Floyd struck a weak shot in the 66th minute. Willie Reilly didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Huron FC. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Benedict Belanger helped the player get up and apologised. Huron FC's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
