Toby Whitlock blasted a shot towards the goal in the 12th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Kris Burton having to make a save. 13 minutes into the match, Gardiner AFC's goalkeeper Kris Burton had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Wilfredo Mayberry. In the 15th match minute, Gardiner AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Waldo Ayala to maneuver through the defense. Collin Dickinson's late challenge caught a Gardiner AFC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Collin Dickinson helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Choctaw's Collin Dickinson got a free kick in the 18th minute. Waldo Ayala's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Edgardo Burris read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 19th minute of play. In the 20th minute, Darren Metcalf left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Gardiner AFC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. 26 minutes into the match, Gardiner AFC's Darren Metcalf sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Edgardo Burris narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 28 minutes into the match, Gardiner AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Toby Whitlock came free, but Kris Burton reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of Choctaw booed when Gardiner AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 36 match minutes in a wonderful position. Christian Adkins didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Darren Metcalf had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 45 played minutes Gardiner AFC got a freekick which was hit by Trey Vincent. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

After a rather tough play, Gardiner AFC's Shayne Benedict got a free kick in the 52nd minute. In the 54th minute, Toby Whitlock got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Kris Burton showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Wilfredo Mayberry in the 55th minute of the match. Choctaw's Donnie Stanford got a good chance for a goal in the 57th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Edgardo Burris made an important save on a dangerous shot by Bryan Gallagher in the 62nd minute. Edgardo Burris showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Darren Metcalf, who was totally free with the ball in the 64th minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Toby Whitlock in the 68th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Kris Burton saved Gardiner AFC from getting behind. In the 70th minute Wilfredo Mayberry shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Kris Burton saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Donnie Stanford during the 72nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 85th minute Darren Metcalf shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Edgardo Burris saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Wilfredo Mayberry received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 96th minute. Kris Burton tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Gardiner AFC walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
