The supporters of Holmes Beach booed when Port Vale FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 7 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alfonso Moses didn't get a good kick on the ball. Cole Stevens's late challenge caught a Holmes Beach's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Cole Stevens helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Port Vale FC's Cole Stevens got a free kick in the 13th minute. After 30 played minutes Port Vale FC got a freekick which was hit by Cole Stevens. In the 32nd minute Rickie Love shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Anton Kauffman saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Anton Kauffman made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rickie Love in the 36th minute of play. Anton Kauffman showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Billy Reeves in the 40th minute of the match. Cory Bernard kicked well hit freekick during the 47th minute of the match. After having played for 48 minutes, Rico Grimes managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Holmes Beach's supporters crossed their fingers, but Rico Grimes was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

Holmes Beach were awarded a corner in the 55th minute after Port Vale FC's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Rico Grimes took the corner. Holmes Beach's Rico Grimes was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Anton Kauffman in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. In the 57th minute, Rickie Love ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Anton Kauffman was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. An unexpected shot in the 60th minute by Billy Reeves got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Emmanuel Chapman kicked well hit freekick during the 63rd minute of the match. Anton Kauffman stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Rickie Love's shot from short distance in the 67th minute. In the 68th minute, Alfonso Moses hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 70 minutes into the match, Port Vale FC's goal looked a bit too open when Rickie Love came free, but Anton Kauffman reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Rickie Love who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 71stth minute tested the skills of Anton Kauffman when he managed to save the team from getting behind. If Casey Dill had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 74th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Rickie Love recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 89th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 93 played minutes Port Vale FC got a freekick which was hit by Casey Dill. The supporters of Port Vale FC booed when Holmes Beach was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 94 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bill Cullen didn't get a good kick on the ball. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
