Spectators: 7408 (Terracing: 5750, Seating: 1500, VIP seats: 158) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Todd Carmona started the match with the kick off. The audience was convinced that Rickie Love's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Garth Eason was relentless in the 3rd minute of the game. Vernon Hills's Garth Eason played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rickie Love in the 4th minute of play. In the 6th match minute, Holmes Beach was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Billy Reeves to maneuver through the defense. Rickie Love in the 11thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Garth Eason, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Billy Reeves hit a great freekick 17 minutes into the match. A collision led to Holmes Beach getting a freekick after 20 minutes play. Billy Reeves hit a great ball. In the 25thth minute of the game Rickie Love who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Vernon Hills's Garth Eason was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After 30 minutes, Gordon Ochoa mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Vernon Hills and the Holmes Beach players grew even worse after the yellow card. Willis Madden kicked well hit freekick during the 34th minute of the match. If Rico Grimes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 37 minutes into the match, Vernon Hills's goal looked a bit too open when Rickie Love came free, but Garth Eason reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Rickie Love recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 45th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The throw-in from Gordon Ochoa in the 47th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Holmes Beach's Warren Priest. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Warren Priest kicked well hit freekick during the 55th minute of the match. Rickie Love struck a weak shot in the 67th minute. Garth Eason didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Holmes Beach. After a rather tough play, Holmes Beach's Rickie Love got a free kick in the 76th minute. In the 78th minute Rickie Love shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Garth Eason saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 83rd minute, Rickie Love managed to get in a good position for a shot. Holmes Beach's supporters rose to their feet, but Rickie Love was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Garth Eason breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 87 minutes into the game, Rico Grimes was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Holmes Beach's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Vernon Hills the free kick. Rico Grimes hit a great freekick 87 minutes into the match. Todd Carmona was extremely unlucky when he, in the 88th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. After a rather tough play, Vernon Hills's Willis Madden got a free kick in the 91st minute. Vernon Hills's Garth Eason played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rico Grimes in the 92nd minute of play.
