Harry Hopper tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 20 minutes into the match, Vice Croydon AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Gordon Ybarra came free, but Mark Watt reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Melvin Wolfe hit a great freekick 21 minutes into the match. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Kurt Esposito in the 30th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Harry Hopper prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Kent Patrick fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 33rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Harry Hopper having to interfere. If Jess Hinkle had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Kent Patrick came up free with the goalie in the 43rd minute, the Vice Croydon AFC fans jumped to their feet. Harry Hopper took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jess Hinkle, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The supporters of Vice Croydon AFC booed when Brookside was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 54 match minutes in a wonderful position. Damon Newsome didn't get a good kick on the ball. Mark Watt showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Damon Newsome in the 60th minute of the match. Kent Patrick received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 67th minute. Harry Hopper tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 70th minute, Kurt Esposito got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Joey Ryder was slow to take the kick. During this time Vice Croydon AFC's players had a chance to rest. A well-hit corner resulted in Kent Patrick heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. In the 80th minute Gordon Ybarra shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mark Watt saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Vice Croydon AFC's Mark Watt played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gordon Ybarra in the 81st minute of play. After a rather tough play, Brookside's Bo Lemon got a free kick in the 89th minute. If Kent Patrick had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 92nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Vice Croydon AFC's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
