The referee ignored Manchester United's protests and gave Hunter Purvis a yellow card for diving instead. After 42 played minutes Manchester United got a freekick which was hit by Hunter Purvis. In the 46thth minute of the game Gerard Robbins who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Las Vegas Hawks's Charlie Herget was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Gerard Robbins to strike the kick off in the second half. After a defensive mix-up in Las Vegas Hawks's zone, Elias Bryant stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Charlie Herget came out of the goal and Elias Bryant tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Manchester United's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
