The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Zachery Ayers showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Zachery Ayers showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Arnoldo Stahl in the 5th minute of the match. After 15 minutes, Cobi Wray mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Brainerd FC and the Retamoso FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Brainerd FC's Alex Pearson proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 16th minute of the match, managed to save Brainerd FC from getting a goal against them. Bob Tinsleys short, quick shot in the 18thth minute got Alex Pearson to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Greg Caldwell hit a great freekick 19 minutes into the match. An unexpected shot in the 23rd minute by Jerrod Crabtree got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Zachery Ayers made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Arnoldo Stahl in the 26th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Shawn Diamond in the 29th minute of play forced Retamoso FC's goalkeeper Zachery Ayers to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 30 minutes into the game, Bob Tinsley lined in a short shot 2-0 behind a frustrated Alex Pearson. Zachery Ayers made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Shawn Diamond in the 34th minute of play. If Jerrod Crabtree had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Alex Pearson made an important save on a dangerous shot by Jerrod Crabtree in the 44th minute. In the 46th match minute, Brainerd FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cobi Wray to maneuver through the defense. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Arnoldo Stahl was the one to do the kick off. A nice corner shot did that Elias Lockhart got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Zachery Ayers quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. In the 56th minute, Greg Caldwell left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Retamoso FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-0. Alex Pearson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Greg Caldwell, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Retamoso FC's Zachery Ayers played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Arnoldo Stahl in the 61st minute of play. DeAndre Brantley scored 4-0 in the 63rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Alex Pearson, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Retamoso FC made a substitution. Lance Shepard replaced Reyes Dougherty. When Luis Cornelius fell near the penalty area in the 74th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Brainerd FC's protests and gave Luis Cornelius a yellow card for diving instead. In the 74th match minute, Brainerd FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Luis Cornelius to maneuver through the defense. In a very dangerous position, a player in Retamoso FC fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 77th minute. Penalty! 81 minutes into the match, Brainerd FC's goal looked a bit too open when Jerrod Crabtree came free, but Alex Pearson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Luis Cornelius got his second yellow card in the match during the 82nd minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. A collision led to Brainerd FC getting a freekick after 82 minutes play. Luis Cornelius hit a great ball. The supporters of Brainerd FC booed when Retamoso FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 84 match minutes in a wonderful position. DeAndre Brantley didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 88 played minutes Retamoso FC got a freekick which was hit by Cristobal Pryor. 95 minutes into the game, Jerrod Crabtree cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 5-0. Alex Pearson was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. There was no doubt that Retamoso FC were the better team. Retamoso FC's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
