The supporters of Brookside booed when Brainerd FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 45 match minutes in a wonderful position. Elias Lockhart didn't get a good kick on the ball. Brookside's Myles Newman couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 46th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Brainerd FC. Joey Doud fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 48th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alex Pearson having to interfere. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Joey Doud was the one to do the kick off. After some fancy dribbling in the 56th minute, Shawn Diamond managed to get in a good position for a shot. Brainerd FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Shawn Diamond was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Harry Hopper breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Damon Newsome might have been able to make a better finish in the 62nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Alex Pearson. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Damon Newsome ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 72nd minute, Marshall Baggett hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Joey Doud's late challenge caught a Brainerd FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. An unexpectedly hard shot by Joey Doud in the 87th minute of play forced Brainerd FC's goalkeeper Alex Pearson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Brookside had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
