With his leg Alex Pearson managed to avoid a goal in the 5thth minute, when Black Sails FC's Eric Fisher fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. In the 5th match minute, Brainerd FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Luis Cornelius to maneuver through the defense. After some fancy dribbling in the 6th minute, Donnie Ragland managed to get in a good position for a shot. Black Sails FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Donnie Ragland was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Alex Pearson breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Eric Fisher sent away a hard shot on goal in the 8th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Cobi Wray kicked well hit freekick during the 9th minute of the match. Alex Pearson made an important save on a dangerous shot by Eric Fisher in the 10th minute. In the 10th match minute, Brainerd FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Luis Cornelius to maneuver through the defense. After a rather tough play, Black Sails FC's Gordon Justice got a free kick in the 12th minute. An unexpected shot in the 15th minute by Eric Fisher got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. 17 minutes into the match, Brainerd FC's goalkeeper Alex Pearson had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Eric Fisher. Eric Fisher was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 20th minute. Black Sails FC's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. After having played for 22 minutes, Donnie Ragland managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Black Sails FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Donnie Ragland was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 25 minutes into the game, Eric Fisher cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-0. Alex Pearson was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Alex Pearson was out of position in the 28 minute of play, and Donnie Ragland capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Donnie Ragland really showed his touch with that goal: 2-0. After 32 minutes, Gordon Justice mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Black Sails FC and the Brainerd FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 32 played minutes Black Sails FC got a freekick which was hit by Gordon Justice. Shawn Diamond hit a great freekick 33 minutes into the match. Eric Fisher's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 34thth minute, Alex Pearson skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. In the 36th match minute, Black Sails FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ignacio Kuhn to maneuver through the defense. Elias Lockhart took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 37th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Craig Velazquez. Black Sails FC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. After 45 played minutes Black Sails FC got a freekick which was hit by Dominique Polk. Donnie Ragland sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Af the end of the first half the score was 3-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Arnoldo Stahl stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Eric Fisher in the 52nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Alex Pearson prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Brainerd FC's Alex Pearson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Donnie Ragland in the 54th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Brainerd FC's Elias Lockhart got a free kick in the 55th minute. Alex Pearson stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Eric Fisher's shot from short distance in the 57th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Eric Fisher in the 59th minute of play forced Brainerd FC's goalkeeper Alex Pearson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Black Sails FC booed when Brainerd FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 60 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luis Cornelius didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 61st minute, Donnie Ragland managed to get in a good position for a shot. Black Sails FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Donnie Ragland was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. After a defensive mix-up in Brainerd FC's zone, Eric Fisher stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Alex Pearson came out of the goal and Eric Fisher tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Terence Thurston during the 68th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 68th minute, Terence Thurston hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The long shot by Elias Lockhart in the 69th minute really tested Craig Velazquez's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. Craig Velazquez showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jackson McGrath, who was totally free with the ball in the 70th minute. In the 72nd minute Donnie Ragland shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alex Pearson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Brainerd FC's zone, Donnie Ragland stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Alex Pearson came out of the goal and Donnie Ragland tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The audience was convinced that Eric Fisher's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Alex Pearson was relentless in the 75th minute of the game. When the match clock showed 78 minutes, the score became 4-0 when Donnie Ragland sped through Brainerd FC's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Alex Pearson. Alex Pearson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Donnie Ragland in the 81st minute of play. Jackson McGrath's late challenge caught a Black Sails FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Eric Fisher's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Alex Pearson read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 97th minute of play. Black Sails FC's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
