Spencer Clay showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Matthew Zaragoza, who was totally free with the ball in the 35th minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Willie Bridges in the 40th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Yu Zhen Zhen saved Club Atlético Lanús from getting behind. In the 47th minute Willie Bridges shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Yu Zhen Zhen saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Rickie Bingham could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 48th minute of the match, but Spencer Clay made a huge save. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Rickie Bingham stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In a very dangerous position, a player in Wayne Winners fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 96th minute. Penalty! The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Club Atlético Lanús fans cheered their team off the field, for while Wayne Winners had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
