Rickey Saldana came out of the goal and Dominic Heller tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Wilbert Ewing sent away a hard shot on goal in the 14th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The crowd rose to their feet as Killers FC's Dominic Heller slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Rickey Saldana. That made the score 2-3 after 80 minutes of play. In the 84th minute Dominic Heller shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rickey Saldana saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Rodney Salas was slow to take the kick. During this time Melbourne's players had a chance to rest. Killers FC's Octavio Rouse played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rodney Salas in the 97th minute of play. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Killers FC walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
