Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000,
Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Sylvester McPherson kicked off to start the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 3rd minute, Claude Gordon managed to get in a good position for a shot. Monessen's supporters rose to their feet, but Claude Gordon was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Roger Barry breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 9 minutes into the match, Portugal. The Man's goalkeeper Roger Barry had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Claude Gordon. In the 10th minute Marty Cegielski shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Roger Barry saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Portugal. The Man's Roger Barry proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 11th minute of the match, managed to save Portugal. The Man from getting a goal against them. Sylvester McPherson took the ball and in the 15 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Tyrone Darling. Tyrone Darling dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. In the 17th minute Sterling Beltre suffered a thigh injury and had to be helped off the field. 17 minutes into the game, Mckinley Hernandez was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Portugal. The Man's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Monessen the free kick. After 18 played minutes Portugal. The Man got a freekick which was hit by Mckinley Hernandez. Roger Barry made an important save on a dangerous shot by Claude Gordon in the 19th minute. 24 minutes into the game, Gordon Ivy was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Portugal. The Man's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Monessen the free kick. After 25 played minutes, Monessen's Marty Cegielski shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Roger Barry came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Monessen reached it. In the 26th minute, Kerry Frye hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Roger Barry showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Preston Myers, who was totally free with the ball in the 27th minute. Kareem Blum scored 0-2 in the 30th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Tyrone Darling, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Roger Barry took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Stefan Keene, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Portugal. The Man's Roger Barry proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 37th minute of the match, managed to save Portugal. The Man from getting a goal against them. The audience thought a goal was coming when Preston Myers got free with Roger Barry in the 38th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When Gordon Ivy was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 39 minutes had been played. In the 41st minute of the match Marty Cegielski shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Roger Barry showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Claude Gordon could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 42nd minute of the match, but Roger Barry made a huge save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Stefan Keene in the 43rd minute of play forced Portugal. The Man's goalkeeper Roger Barry to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Roger Barry made an important save on a dangerous shot by Claude Gordon in the 45th minute. The Monessen players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Portugal. The Man were winning 0-2.
In the 52nd minute, Stefan Keene got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 54th match minute, Monessen was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Preston Myers to maneuver through the defense. 59 minutes into the match, Monessen's goalkeeper Tyrone Darling had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Donny Burris. Portugal. The Man's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Donny Burris in the 60th minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Sylvester McPherson in the 62nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Tyrone Darling saved Monessen from getting behind. The audience was convinced that Sylvester McPherson's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Tyrone Darling was relentless in the 63rd minute of the game. 64 minutes into the game, Weldon Willingham was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Portugal. The Man's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Monessen the free kick. In a very dangerous position, a player in Portugal. The Man fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 64th minute. Penalty! In the 66th minute there was a penalty for Monessen. Marty Cegielski stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Roger Barry. 1-2. 70 minutes into the game, Stefan Keene cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-2. Roger Barry was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. If Sylvester McPherson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 73rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Darrel Dumas kicked well hit freekick during the 74th minute of the match. Claude Gordon struck a weak shot in the 76th minute. Roger Barry didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Monessen. Preston Myers hit a great freekick 77 minutes into the match. In the 82nd minute, Sylvester McPherson got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 86 minutes into the match, Stefan Keene had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Roger Barry. Portugal. The Man's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Stefan Keene was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-2. In the 90th minute, Mckinley Hernandez got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Mckinley Hernandez sent away a hard shot on goal in the 94th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Monessen had won after a very even match.
