Troy Regan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 44th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Vaughn Shipman having to interfere. In the 46th match minute, American Canyon AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ignacio MacKenzie to maneuver through the defense. After the first half American Canyon AFC were leading 0-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The wind increased when Terence Gil made the kick off in the second half. After a defensive mix-up in Racing de Carolina's zone, Troy Regan stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Vaughn Shipman came out of the goal and Troy Regan tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The supporters of American Canyon AFC booed when Racing de Carolina was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 57 match minutes in a wonderful position. Chad Poe didn't get a good kick on the ball. Terence Gil fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 58th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Vaughn Shipman having to interfere. After some careless play in the Racing de Carolina defense, Troy Regan kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Vaughn Shipman. The Racing de Carolina fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Vaughn Shipman should have stopped the shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by Terence Gil in the 68th minute of play forced Racing de Carolina's goalkeeper Vaughn Shipman to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Troy Regan received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 74th minute. Vaughn Shipman tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
