The referee ignored Cortland's protests and gave Teodoro Chang a yellow card for diving instead. In the 37th minute, Teodoro Chang hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 39 minutes into the match, Cortland's goal looked a bit too open when Lazaro Ruth came free, but Greg Landis reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Enoch Holliday to make the kick off. 54 minutes had been played when some careless play by Cortland's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. During this time Bartonville's players had a chance to rest. 56 minutes into the game, Lazaro Ruth recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Greg Landis. Lazaro Ruth showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 0-2. Devin Anderson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 59th minute. Greg Landis tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Greg Landis was out of position in the 61 minute of play, and Devin Anderson capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Devin Anderson really showed his touch with that goal: 0-3. After some careless play in the Cortland defense, Wendell Whitfield kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Greg Landis. The Cortland fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Greg Landis should have stopped the shot. After 78 minutes of play, Cortland's Teodoro Chang made it 2-4 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Darrell Curran was left in no man's land by his defense there! Greg Landis showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Lazaro Ruth in the 83rd minute of the match. Devin Anderson's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 87thth minute, Greg Landis skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. In the 88th minute Bartonville were awarded a corner. Lazaro Ruth went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner led Bartonville's Lazaro Ruth to fire away a dangerous shot which Greg Landis despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. After 90 played minutes Cortland got a freekick which was hit by Enoch Holliday. Wendell Whitfield was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 91st minute. Bartonville's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Enoch Holliday in the 96th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Darrell Curran prevented the ball from getting in the gole.
