In the 5th minute Willis Brandon shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Kris Westbrook saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 13 minutes into the game, Donny Small was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Ellsworth South FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Chick-fil-a the free kick. In the 18th minute, Brett Kohler got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Ellsworth South FC's zone, Willis Brandon stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Kris Westbrook came out of the goal and Willis Brandon tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 25 played minutes Chick-fil-a got a freekick which was hit by Don Pruett. 27 minutes into the game, David Bennett was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Chick-fil-a's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Ellsworth South FC the free kick. After 26 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Chick-fil-a! In the 28th minute there was a penalty for Ellsworth South FC. Jose Hooper stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Rex Pearson. 1-0. Rex Pearson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Brett Kohler in the 34th minute of the match. Chick-fil-a's Don Pruett got a good chance for a goal in the 44th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Brett Kohler stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Art Christie hit a great freekick 53 minutes into the match. Donny Small was shown his second yellow card after 56 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. The supporters of Chick-fil-a booed when Ellsworth South FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 57 match minutes in a wonderful position. Donny Small didn't get a good kick on the ball. With a little luck, Ellsworth South FC's Kris Westbrook got control of the ball when Timmy Nixon tried to sneak it across the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 70th minute, Brett Kohler managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ellsworth South FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Brett Kohler was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Rex Pearson breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 73rd minute, Brett Kohler left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Ellsworth South FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-0. Earl Bullock blasted a shot towards the goal in the 81st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Rex Pearson having to make a save. 89 minutes into the match, Brett Kohler had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Rex Pearson. Chick-fil-a's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Brett Kohler was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-0. In the 93rd minute, Willis Brandon fired away a shot that was totally unreachable for Kris Westbrook. The ball ended up just outside the left post, and Chick-fil-a's manager could be seen angrily pacing the sidelines. Earl Bullock received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 96th minute. Rex Pearson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
