Titusville
Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000,
Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Enoch Holliday started the match with the kick off. 3 minutes into the match, Titusville's goal looked a bit too open when Enoch Holliday came free, but Rhett Perez reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 4th minute, Robert McClelland hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. A collision led to Titusville getting a freekick after 6 minutes play. Brad Beam hit a great ball. Robert McClelland's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Greg Landis read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 10th minute of play. 13 minutes into the match, Titusville's goal looked a bit too open when Enoch Holliday came free, but Rhett Perez reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 15 minutes, Keith Napier mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Titusville and the Cortland players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 15th minute, Keith Napier hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 16 played minutes, Cortland's Ken Wray shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Rhett Perez came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Cortland reached it. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Enoch Holliday in the 17th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Rhett Perez saved Titusville from getting behind. In the 18thth minute of the game Enoch Holliday who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Titusville's Rhett Perez was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After 20 played minutes Titusville got a freekick which was hit by Charlie Montano. Ken Wray struck a weak shot in the 20th minute. Rhett Perez didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Cortland. Charlie Montano's late challenge caught a Cortland's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Charlie Montano helped the player get up and apologised. In the 23rd minute, Charlie Montano hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 24 minutes into the match, Titusville's goal looked a bit too open when Teodoro Chang came free, but Rhett Perez reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The Cortland fans' excitement grew in the 25th match minute when Cortland's Teodoro Chang looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Titusville's Rhett Perez played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Enoch Holliday in the 28th minute of play. In the 29th match minute, Titusville was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Charlie Montano to maneuver through the defense. If Eliseo Juarez had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 37 minutes into the game, Cortland's Enoch Holliday nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Rhett Perez made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. Rhett Perez showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ken Wray in the 42nd minute of the match. Rhett Perez made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Enoch Holliday in the 45th minute of play. In the 47th minute, Enoch Holliday left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Cortland fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-3. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-3 lead.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Eliseo Juarez was the one to do the kick off. Enoch Holliday sent away a hard shot on goal in the 54th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Enoch Holliday received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 57th minute. Rhett Perez tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Rhett Perez made an important save on a dangerous shot by Enoch Holliday in the 66th minute. Bob Leslie received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Rhett Perez came out and tried to block the shot, but Bob Leslie slotted it home off the left post making it 0-4 in the 71st minute. Rhett Perez came out of the goal in the 74th minute to try and stop a shot by Cortland's Enoch Holliday. But to his dismay, Enoch Holliday quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-5. When the match clock showed 80 minutes, the score became 0-6 when Enoch Holliday sped through Titusville's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Rhett Perez. 83 minutes into the match, Cortland's Ken Wray sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Rhett Perez narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Enoch Holliday struck a weak shot in the 84th minute. Rhett Perez didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Cortland. Robert McClelland struck a weak shot in the 89th minute. Greg Landis didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Titusville. Titusville's Rhett Perez played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ken Wray in the 92nd minute of play. Eliseo Juarez sent away a hard shot on goal in the 96th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
