Bartonville's supporters rose to their feet, but Lazaro Ruth was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Rex Pearson breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 16 minutes into the match, Lazaro Ruth had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Rex Pearson. Chick-fil-a's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Lazaro Ruth was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. Wendell Whitfield fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 19th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rex Pearson having to interfere. Rex Pearson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Wendell Whitfield in the 22nd minute of play. When the match clock showed 23 minutes, the score became 0-3 when Lazaro Ruth sped through Chick-fil-a's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Rex Pearson. After a rather tough play, Chick-fil-a's Timmy Nixon got a free kick in the 32nd minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Wendell Whitfield in the 39th minute of play forced Chick-fil-a's goalkeeper Rex Pearson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Lazaro Ruth received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 41st minute. Rex Pearson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Rex Pearson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lazaro Ruth in the 46th minute of play. Disappointed in the 0-4 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Tommie Medley to make the kick off. Wendell Whitfield in the 52ndth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Rex Pearson, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Lazaro Ruth had several of the Chick-fil-a's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 53 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 0-5 score and a disappointed Rex Pearson as he didn't even see the shot coming. After 64 minutes, David Bennett mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Chick-fil-a and the Bartonville players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 64 played minutes Chick-fil-a got a freekick which was hit by David Bennett. In the 66th minute the ball was on its way in behind Chick-fil-a's goalkeeper Rex Pearson, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 68th minute, Bartonville's Lazaro Ruth dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 0-6. 71 minutes into the match, Chick-fil-a's goal looked a bit too open when Lazaro Ruth came free, but Rex Pearson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 80th minute Lazaro Ruth shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rex Pearson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 84th play minute Devin Anderson came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Rex Pearson. 0-8. Lazaro Ruth was extremely unlucky when he, in the 88th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. Rex Pearson made an important save on a dangerous shot by Wendell Whitfield in the 90th minute. With his leg Rex Pearson managed to avoid a goal in the 92ndth minute, when Bartonville's Wendell Whitfield fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Wendell Whitfield sent away a hard shot on goal in the 96th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Bartonville played a much better game than Chick-fil-a and deserved their victory. The Chick-fil-a players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
