Scotty Aldrich tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Sammy Beach fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 8th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Scotty Aldrich having to interfere. The supporters of MONTERREY booed when Los Americans FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 10 match minutes in a wonderful position. Octavio Cermak didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 12 played minutes MONTERREY got a freekick which was hit by Lonnie Frey. Sammy Beach sent away a hard shot on goal in the 21st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 26 minutes into the game, Hal Glass recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Eric Haynes. Hal Glass showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. After having played for 34 minutes, Hal Glass managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. MONTERREY's supporters crossed their fingers, but Hal Glass was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 39 played minutes MONTERREY got a freekick which was hit by Osvaldo McNamara. An unexpectedly hard shot by Freddy Alley in the 40th minute of play forced MONTERREY's goalkeeper Scotty Aldrich to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Dwight Webster could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 41st minute of the match, but Eric Haynes made a huge save. If Edmundo McKinley had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Edmundo McKinley in the 46th minute of play forced MONTERREY's goalkeeper Scotty Aldrich to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Dwight Webster sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After 48 played minutes Hal Glass rounded Los Americans FC's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 2-0.

MONTERREY's Scotty Aldrich played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Edmundo McKinley in the 68th minute of play. Sammy Beach sent away a hard shot on goal in the 69th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 75th minute of the match, Sammy Beach got a very nice opportunity to score, but Scotty Aldrich was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. After a rather tough play, MONTERREY's Alec Dodge got a free kick in the 76th minute. In the 78th minute, MONTERREY's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Edmundo McKinley fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. 93 minutes into the match, Los Americans FC's goal looked a bit too open when Dwight Webster came free, but Eric Haynes reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Eric Haynes stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Dwight Webster's shot from short distance in the 95th minute. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The MONTERREY fans cheered their team off the field, for while Los Americans FC had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
