Alex Westbrook showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sean Lamb, who was totally free with the ball in the 12th minute. In the 13th minute Sean Lamb shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alex Westbrook saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Monmouth booed when Arcola Youth Academy was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 33 match minutes in a wonderful position. Edward Ruffin didn't get a good kick on the ball. Claude Helton kicked well hit freekick during the 41st minute of the match. Monmouth's Alex Westbrook played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Oren Rangel in the 43rd minute of play. 44 minutes into the game, Arcola Youth Academy's Sean Lamb nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Alex Westbrook made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-2. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

An unexpected shot in the 84th minute by Sean Lamb got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. A collision led to Monmouth getting a freekick after 87 minutes play. Alberto Chappelle hit a great ball. Isidro Couch might have been able to make a better finish in the 88th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Alex Westbrook. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Isidro Couch ran back to his position shaking his head. Alex Westbrook made a fantastic save in the 92nd minute, when Sean Lamb sent off a good shot on target.
