Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000,
Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Bryce McGowan started the match with the kick off. Detroit AFC's Jonas Siegel played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Marshall Titus in the 7th minute of play. Brant Benson made a fantastic save in the 9th minute, when Rui Marques sent off a good shot on target. In the 10th minute of the match Detroit AFC got a corner. US Army's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Rui Marques ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner led Detroit AFC's Rui Marques to fire away a dangerous shot which Brant Benson despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Marshall Titus received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 13th minute. Jonas Siegel tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Detroit AFC's Jonas Siegel played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Octavio Parker in the 15th minute of play. Octavio Parker might have been able to make a better finish in the 17th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Jonas Siegel. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Octavio Parker ran back to his position shaking his head. After 30 minutes, Octavio Parker mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the US Army and the Detroit AFC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Octavio Parker kicked well hit freekick during the 30th minute of the match. In the 35th minute the ball was on its way in behind Detroit AFC's goalkeeper Jonas Siegel, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. US Army's Marshall Titus got a good chance for a goal in the 40th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Salvatore Blankenship was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 42 minutes into the match. Octavio Parker kicked well hit freekick during the 47th minute of the match. After the first half US Army were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.
The audience thought a goal was coming when Octavio Parker got free with Jonas Siegel in the 52nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Jess Coyle kicked well hit freekick during the 54th minute of the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Bryce McGowan got free with Jonas Siegel in the 56th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. A hard shot 59 in the game by Bryce McGowan from a close distance when the talented Jonas Siegel managed to make a qualified save. Detroit AFC's players were relieved. When Nathan Weeks came up free with the goalie in the 62nd minute, the US Army fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Nathan Weeks couldn't finish the play. Marshall Titus received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 64th minute. Jonas Siegel tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 65 played minutes Detroit AFC got a freekick which was hit by Kurt Banning. In the 66th minute Brad Murdock shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jonas Siegel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 70 minutes into the match, US Army's goal looked a bit too open when Rui Marques came free, but Brant Benson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Marshall Titus might have been able to make a better finish in the 72nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Jonas Siegel. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Marshall Titus ran back to his position shaking his head. Octavio Parker hit a great freekick 76 minutes into the match. Kasey Poole kicked well hit freekick during the 78th minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in US Army's zone, Rui Marques stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Brant Benson came out of the goal and Rui Marques tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Octavio Parker came up free with the goalie in the 81st minute, the US Army fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Octavio Parker couldn't finish the play. 0-3 became the score in the 82nd minute when Marshall Titus elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. If Bryce McGowan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Octavio Parker came up free with the goalie in the 90th minute, the US Army fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Octavio Parker couldn't finish the play. When the match was over US Army could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Detroit AFC throughout the match.
