The audience thought a goal was coming when Zack Bentley got free with Elvis Seymour in the 22nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Alfonzo Hudson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 23rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Elvis Seymour having to interfere. 25 minutes into the game, Dyer FC's Virgil Thomson nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Tyler Drummond made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Tyler Drummond took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tuan LeBlanc, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Tyler Drummond made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tuan LeBlanc in the 29th minute of play. If Dave Higgins had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 31st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 35 minutes into the match, Palos Verdes Estates's goal looked a bit too open when Tuan LeBlanc came free, but Tyler Drummond reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Zack Bentley's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Elvis Seymour read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 37th minute of play. In the 38thth minute of the game Virgil Thomson who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Palos Verdes Estates's Tyler Drummond was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 40 minutes into the match, Tuan LeBlanc had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Tyler Drummond. Palos Verdes Estates's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Tuan LeBlanc was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. Scottie Shearer fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 44th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tyler Drummond having to interfere. Vaughn Rushing's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 47thth minute, Elvis Seymour skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.
